During the weekend of October 4-7, I have been invited back for the fourth year to provide live musical accompaniment to silent movie westerns to be screened at the Lone Pine Film Festival, the annual film festival held in Lone Pine, California, which celebrates the hundreds of films and television episodes that used Lone Pine, the Alabama Hills, and the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range as film locations. In its twenty-ninth year, it is one of the most important Western film festivals in the United States. I will be providing live musical accompaniment for two classic silent movie western feature films from the 1920’s, featuring famous cowboy stars from the early days of Hollywood. One of the films,”The Wild Horse Stampede” was recently restored by the Library of Congress and will be screened for only the second time since 1926.
